Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself: Phase 1 Update

I just completed the first 7 days of Joe Dispenza's Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself meditations.

While mainly focusing on induction and getting the mind to that place where it is quiet, this phase is a preparation for the deeper change work to come.

Considering I have had quite a bit of experience with longer meditations that Joe Dispenza has provided, I still found these shorter inductions challenging at times.

With both the body parts and water rising inductions I found that the mental chatter took a long time to settle down on most mornings, and it wasn't until the last few minutes that I actually felt like I started to settle into it. I think this might be due to previous conditioning of getting up, downing some caffeine and just getting straight into 'thinking and go' mode - my mind and body just wants to get going.

It'll take a while to reverse that conditioning.

A few things I've noticed/that happened (whether a result of meditation or not is still to be decided..) this week include:

  • Posture Changes: A few times throughout the meditation I felt like what I could only describe as 'posture alignment'. I can only describe it as is my neck and head all of a sudden aligns itself over my spine from what was previously more forward head posture. (Can any explain this..?)
  • Free FoundersCard Membership: A day or two into phase 1 of Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself I received a free year long FoundersCard membership worth $295. The jury is still out as to whether the membership is actually worth this but it was a nice surprise.
  • Free $80 Whoop voucher: I gave my old whoop to a friend who was meant to be doing a two month free trial. For some reason he got charged early and I got a free voucher as a result of it - and yes, he got a refund for the hassle.
  • Mortgage Reduction: This week I received a notice from the bank that my Mortgage will be reduced by $200 a month with a interest rate reduction. There's been a few rate reductions here in Australia lately, but this one wasn't on my radar.
  • General Productivity Challenges: The last week wasn't all smooth sailing. I found myself thinking long and hard about how noisy our lives have become and questioning the why behind a lot of things I do on a day to day basis. I've got a lot to unpack here, but I feel like the meditation is helping.

So that's all for week one. I am pleased that I did a full 7 days of mediation practice and for the aforementioned potential synchronicities as a result of it.
