The Focus Today

One of the rules I’ve set for this project is simple: anything I want to buy for the business has to be earned first. No dipping into personal funds. Today was the first real test of that.

I’ve been using an app called Context on my laptop, but I only had the demo version. It kept prompting me to pay for the upgrade, which costs about $10 USD. So today’s mission was clear: generate $15 online to cover it.

This wasn’t about the amount. It was about discipline. If I can prove that even the smallest tools are funded from new earnings, it sets the right tone for the journey.

Actions Taken

  • Checked Askable for new short surveys and applied for several.
  • Completed an Octopus Group survey worth ~$5.
  • Knocked out a few micro-surveys ($1.89, $2.89, etc.) to chip away at the goal.
  • Tried multiple survey platforms, some resulted in disqualification, but kept moving.
  • Logged into Eureka and found $8 sitting there, then completed more tasks to increase balance.
  • Reviewed matched betting offers (timing wasn’t right today).
  • Consolidated balances across platforms to confirm I’d crossed the $15 mark.

Key Mindsets Reinforced

  • Earn before you spend: Every tool, no matter how small, must be paid for by income from the project.
  • Grind tolerance: Most of today’s work was tedious. The willingness to push through matters more than the glamour.
  • First-principles focus: Like Elon Musk’s “optimize and delete,” I kept asking: what’s the simplest, fastest way to reach today’s $15 target?
  • System > Speed: The grind is fine if it’s building habits and systems for the bigger picture.

  1. Pick a small tool/subscription you want (≤ $20) and commit to only funding it from earnings.

  3. Track your balances across platforms (pending vs. available).

  5. Record today’s earnings and allocate them toward your chosen tool.
